Saguaro (Carnegiea Gigantea)
Saguaro (Carnegiea Gigantea)
Saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea) is the iconic, two armed silhoutte cactus. It is slow-growing and native to the Sonoran Desert. At maturity, it can reach heights of 40 feet and live over 150 years. Mature Saguaro bloom in late spring, and produce red fruit in summer. Saguaros thrive in full sun, need excellent drainage, and are hardy to around 20°F (USDA Zone 9). They provide vital habitat for desert wildlife and are protected in the wild by Arizona Law.
Plants are shipped bare root. Most specimens will be single stalk. Soil used to repot should be easy draining. Water again only once soil is nearly dry.
